LAOH Division 23 President's Letter
It’s that time of the year Ladies, the celebration of the Feast of St. Patrick; our Patron Saint of Ireland. St. Patrick’s Day is a day of celebration; please remember it is also a day of prayer. It’s a wonderful day to remember all our past relatives and friends during this special Irish holiday. Please keep in your prayers our Service Men and Women over seas, may St. Patrick and St. Brigid assist and guide them home safely. May they also keep you and your family safe, healthy and happy.

We have many things going on this month at the club. We are going to start off the celebration with a Memorial Mass at St. Matthew’s (aka St. Kieran’s). The Mass is on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. There will be a small social gathering after the Mass at the club immediately following the service. If you would like to bring a dessert or an appetizer to share it would be greatly appreciated.
On Friday, March 11, 2011 we are having our monthly meeting; promptly starting at 8:00 p.m. All information for the parade will be given out at the meeting. If you are not marching and have a sash someone can borrow please bring it to the meeting. Don’t forget our monthly drawing will be at 9:30 p.m., you must be signed in by 9:00 p.m. So please get to the club a little early to sign just in case our meeting runs a little later than 9:00 pm.
AOH/LAOH 23 Basket of Culture and Cheer Raffle ($1.00) will be on Thurs 03-17-2011. It benefits our building fund. I will have tickets available at our meeting to hand out to our members.
Saturday, March 12, 2011 is Parade Day. Remember to wear your Aran sweaters, black pants, dark green or black turtleneck, LAOH Sash and black shoes. Please do not put any pins on your sash or wear any beads, etc… The parade starts at 10:00 a.m., please meet the same place as last year (on Liberty Avenue, around ) no later than 9:30 a.m. More detail at Friday, 03-11-11 meeting at 8:00 p.m.
Division 23’s after the parade celebration. The club will be open from noon until 8:00 p.m. after the parade, members and their families and friends are invited to celebrate. A $3.00 adult cover charge at the door.
Thursday, March 17, 2011 is our St. Patrick’s Day Celebration/Dinner at the club. This year Chief Gary Byrnes is going to make Ham and Cabbage. The cost is $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for children. If you would like to donate something for the dessert table please call me (412-784-3654), it would be greatly appreciated. All reservations need to be made no later than Monday March 14, 2011.
